Dear Alumni,
The INSEAD Japan Entrepreneurial Network is happy to inform you about the next event on Tuesday, September 17th. Please save the date. This will be an exciting event with dynamic entrepreneurs working on important challenges in our society.
We will have three company presentations as well as a discussion of the Japan startup ecosystem. Waichiro Katsuda (MBA ‘14J) is the CEO/co-founder of ThinkCyte (), a company with an advanced single-cell analysis technology called Ghost Cytometry that was published in the journal Science last year. Single-cell analysis is an important technique that supports drug discovery, cancer diagnosis and therapy. Waichiro started his career with a Japanese biotech startup and was a former strategy consultant prior to INSEAD.  Nakayama is the founder of SHE Inc. (), an on-and-offsite subscription based school offering digital and creative skills-training, mentoring, lifestyle support services (more new services are coming soon...) and job placement services for a new generation of Japanese women. SHE Inc. has catered to over 6,000 students seeking work/life/family balance, skill improvement, career transformation, and personal fulfillment. Saaya was one of three finalists from East Asia in the 2019 Cartier Women’s Initiative Award where INSEAD is a founding partner. Naomasa Tobinai is the founder and CEO of KYCC, a company that focuses on “Know your customer” services. Naomasa has been in the industry for more than twenty years and founded KYCC in 2018 when he foresaw the demand of more advanced “KYC” services in Japan, especially in the financial services and other sectors affected by the introduction of the Act on Prevention of Transfer of Criminal Proceeds (November 30, 2018) requiring more stringent AML (anti-money laundering) measures. KYCC provides risk information provision services to various companies such as cryptocurrency exchanges. Yutaka Kitade has been mentoring Naomasa for the last six months as he thought the service to be unique and addition, Yutaka Kitade and Yuji Ito will give a presentation and lead a discussion about the status and evolution of the Japan startup ecosystem. Both have been active angel investors and mentors to startup founders and entrepreneurs. This will be a good opportunity for us to update our knowledge of the Japanese ecosystem since the launch of our IAAJ entrepreneurial network two years ago.We look forward to seeing you at this exciting event.1.
